Mother-Lovin 5K anthem singer faces cancer battle

Carrie Alonzo, who does a rousing rendition of the national anthem at the Mother-Lovin' 5K faces her own colon cancer battle.

Keri Alonzo is known for her rousing renditions of the National Anthem at the Mother-Lovin’ 5K.
She will be returning to the Mother’s Day event this year as usual. This time battling colon cancer.

“This race takes on a whole new meaning for me and my family,” she said.

After getting the diagnosis and crying with her husband Jeff. She told her 13-year-old son Andrew and then they resolved to fight this as a family. She had surgery and then started chemotherapy. She admits there have been some setbacks, but she is trying to keep a positive attitude.
