Massive brush fire stretches three miles from Schoharie to Otsego counties

Every available emergency agency from Schoharie County and beyond has responded to a massive brush fire.

The fire stretches at least three miles long from Richmondville at the eastern end back into Otsego County.

The first call came in around 2:11 pm Wednesday afternoon, and as of 7:00 p.m. the fire was under control in Schoharie County.

The chief said he couldn’t speak for what’s happening in Otsego County.

There have been no injuries reported. There have been precautionary evacuations due to the amount of smoke in the area, said the chief.
