National Grid announces eligibility for reimbursement those affected by severe storms

National Grid has thanked their customers for patience and support regarding the power outages from the severe weather in upstate New York this past week.

They said thousands of their employees have restored service to approximately 213,567 customers impacted by the weather.

National Grid said they understand the inconvenience of being without service for an extended period of time, and released this statement:

“Residential customers who have experienced an outage lasting more than 72 hours consecutive hours may be eligible for reimbursement for spoiled food and/or prescription medication spoilage. Small commercial customers may also be eligible for reimbursement for spoiled food if they experienced an outage lasting more than 72 consecutive hours. Claims must be filed by August 3, 2024.”

National Grid says you can call to submit a claim at 315-428-3370, submit it online, email the claim as a PDF to foodloss@nationalgrid.com, or print the completed PDF and mail it to National Grid – NYS Food Spoilage Claims (PSL73), 55 Bearfoot Road, Northboro, MA 01532.
