National Grid finishing up power restoration
National Grid is finishing up power restoration after the snow and ice storm this past weekend.
The power company said 98% of customers who lost power had it back by 4 p.m. Monday, with nearly everyone else expected to have it back by late Monday evening.
However, National Grid says some smaller outages may take until Tuesday.
At the height of the weekend ice storm on Saturday, more than 200,000 National Grid customers had no power.
The damage and the power outages were myriad and widespread.
Broken tree limbs and uprooted trees toppled onto power lines.
More than 2,700 people were part of the damage assessment specialists team, public safety personnel, and line repair crews.
There were access issues in many areas. That would account for the delays many customers experienced.
