National Grid: Power outages may last into Thursday or longer
National Grid says it may be Thursday or longer before everyone who lost power in Tuesday’s storms gets it back.
“This storm was certainly not something we typically see in Upstate New York,” National Grid spokesman Patrick Stella said.
Wind gusts in the storm were close to 90 miles per hour in some areas.
Crews worked through the night, according to Stella, but damage was so intense in spots that tens of thousands of Capital Region customers remained in the dark Wednesday morning.
Some of the hardest hit areas include Warren and Montgomery counties.
Crews are assessing the damage to figure out estimated restoration times.
They are also monitoring the possibility of more severe weather today.
