As it starts to feel more like summer, the city of Saratoga Springs is working to make sure people are safe while eating outside.
New barriers are being set up to keep people safe, said Dillon Moran, the city’s accounts commissioner.
He told NewsChannel 13 the city is concerned both about the functionality from a safety standpoint, but also they want to make sure they are not compromising the look of the city.
The barriers will be a permanent fixture outdoors and work to keep people safe on the sidewalks.
“These are DOT certified steel reinforced concrete enclosures. The color that you see on them is impregnated so that chips and little scratches won’t be obvious, and again these are things that are going to last a very, very, very long time,” Moran said.
Moran also spoke about the importance of adapting to people’s needs, and knowing that outdoor dining will not be going away anytime soon.
