New black bears mascot design unveiled in Glens Falls City School District

The Glens Falls City School District is officially showing off its new mascot.

The district revealed the black bear design at a rally at the high school. The black and red bear is a result of a two-month-long design process.

Students voted on the new mascot in April.

The district mascot was previously known as the Glens Falls Indians.

The New York State Education Department set a June deadline for schools to remove mascots associated with Native Americans.
