State Police have released more details about what caused a tractor-trailer to crash on the Thruway Thursday afternoon.

It happened just after noon in the eastbound lane at Exit 25A in Rotterdam. A tractor-trailer struck the crash cushion where the exit ramp splits off from the Thruway, according to police.

The impact caused the tractor-trailer to lift up and strike the railroad overpass bridge. The tractor-trailer spilled the load of metal pipes it was carrying.

No other vehicles were involved.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The eastbound lanes of I-90 between Exit 25 and Exit 25A were closed until around 4 p.m., when the left lane was reopened.

All lanes were reopened at around 8:15 pm.

The crash is under investigation.
