The Gloversville school district will be tightening up security. In a letter to parents, the superintendent notified parents of some of the changes.
The move comes after several disruptive incidents at varsity football games, as well as a series of escalating incidents which took place during extracurricular activities in recent years.
New lighting and surveillance cameras have been installed at husky field and GHS stadium. New fencing to keep spectators from accessing restricted areas has been installed.
In addition to the surveillance cameras facial recognition cameras will also be used to identify banned individuals as well as registered sex offenders.
Re-entry will be prohibited from now on at games, plays, and concerts. Student backpacks will also be prohibited at certain venues.
The new rules also stipulate that for every five pre-k through eighth grade children, there must be at least one adult.
The Gloversville school district says the new rules take effect immediately.
