Days after a scary incident on the uptown campus of UAlbany where an officer fire his gun, newly released body cam video shows what happened.

Days after a scary incident on the uptown campus of UAlbany where an officer fired his gun, newly released body cam video shows what happened.

A clip provided by UAlbany Police and State Police shows first where the car in question started, on Center Drive East, and where the university police officer was positioned.

The video starts with the officer running towards the direction of the car.

The video shows the gun drawn and pointed at the car. As the car speeds away, two shots are fired. A flash of light seen from the bullets.

This is believed to be the first time in the history of UAlbany Police that an officer fired a gun in the line of duty.

The car took off and the driver, Anthony Taylor, 19, was arrested. He was charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment – all felonies. He is also facing misdemeanors of unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, reckless driving and traffic violations.

Two others face misdemeanor charges.

The three people inside the car in question were banned from campus earlier in the day for alleged harassing and threatening behavior, UAlbany Police said.
