New Yorkers to get unhealthy air quality alerts on phones
Your cell phone will now alert you when air quality gets very bad in New York state.
Gov. Kathy Hochul made the announcement on Wednesday, as smoke from Canadian wildfires is once again expected to cause unsafe air quality over the coming days.
The alerts will go out when the air quality index exceeds 200.
Earlier this month, New York state had some of the worst quality in decades, Hochul said.
