Newly reopened North Adams Regional Hospital awaits critical designation
The North Adams Regional Hospital that just reopened in March is still missing one critical designation to make it eligible to receive federal funding.
Berkshire Health Systems is working to get a Critical Access Hospital designation from the State Department of Public Health, NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle reported.
A change in guidelines in what qualifies as a critical access hospital is the main reason North Adams Regional Hospital was able to reopen, according to Berkshire Health Systems.
Having this designation would prevent the hospital from operating at a loss, according to Berkshire Health Systems’ CEO.
