Niskayuna man transferred to Virginia for 1994 murder case

The Niskayuna man police said killed a woman nearly 30 years ago is now in the custody of Virginia authorities.
Stephan Smerk admitted to stabbing Robin Lawrence to death, while her 2-year-old daughter was with her at their home in Fairfax County, Virginia in 1994.
When police there learned Smerk was living in Niskayuna, they paid him a visit.
Since his initial arrest, Smerk has been in the custody of the Schenectady County sheriff.
