Northville Zullo Folo

The NewsChannel 13 Team presents a report of local and national news events, along with the latest weather forecast and updates from the world of sports.

Now-former Northville High School girls’ basketball coach Jim Zullo has been cited for harassment after being seen on video yanking the hair of a player last Friday.

It happened following the team’s loss to La Fargeville in the Class D state championship game at Hudson Valley Community College. Player Hailey Monroe was seen upset by the loss, when Zullo pulled on her hair.

The college’s Department of Safety issued a statement on Monday stating that a complaint was made on Sunday. Zullo met with peace officers from the college on Monday and was issued an appearance ticket for second-degree harassment, which is a violation.

Zullo is due in Troy City Court at a later date.

Zullo had planned to retire after the season and has since been fired by the school.

He previously issued an apology saying that: “As a coach, under no circumstances is it acceptable to put my hands on a player; and I am truly sorry. I wish I could have those moments back. I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached girls’ basketball the past two years, especially last season, which was a difficult time for our family. I am super proud of every one of these young women and what they accomplished. I know each of them will go on to do great things and I wish them well.”
