State Police arrest Colonie man for allegedly having child pornography
The New York State Police of Latham said they arrested Shaun J. Spencer, 43, of Colonie for possession of child pornography on July 3.
Police said he is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual promotion.
The arrest followed an investigation and execution of a search warrant on Spencer’s home in Colonie on July 3, said the State Police.
Authorities say the investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Spencer was arrested at his home and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child (class D felony) and possessing a sexual performance by a child (class E felony).
State Police said he was arraigned at the Colonie Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or a $50,000 partially secured bond.
New York State Police were assisted by Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, Colonie Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
