Eleven members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with partners from the New York State Police and several local fire departments have successfully completed the New York State ice rescue technician course.

The training covers a range of ice rescue techniques including self-rescue, shore-based rescue and ice rescue techniques.

Latham Stewart’s Shoip closing

Today is the last day of business for the Stewart’s Shop at the corner of Watervliet-Shaker and Old Loudon roads in Latham.

The company said the shop, which has been in operation since 1981, can no longer serve the demands of customers. The company said there is limited space for sandwiches, soups and other food-to-go items.

The employees who currently work at the location have taken other jobs within the company.
