One dead, 4 injured after house fire in Manchester
1 person has died following a fire Sunday in Manchester, V.T.
The Manchester Fire Department responded to the scene at about 11:42 a.m. Sunday on Upper Road in Manchester for a house fire.
When crews arrived on scene, they found one person deceased. Two people were transported from the hospital with injuries by helicopter while two others were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Authorities have not yet identified the person that died.
The severity of the injuries are also not known at this time.
Firefighters got the fire under control at about 1:25 p.m. Sunday. Crews were on scene for cleanup and investigation till about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Over seven fire departments responded to the fire with help in mutual aid.
The Manchester Police Department said the investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
Manchester Select Board member Jonathan West wrote in a statement today “Today, our community experienced an emotionally devastating fire, and our hearts go out to the family affected and to everyone in town who feels the weight of this tragedy. In the midst of such difficult moments, we are reminded of the unwavering dedication of our fire, rescue, and police teams, who responded with courage, professionalism, and compassion. Their service and sacrifice do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for all they do to keep us safe, especially in times like these. To the family and all in our community who are touched by this loss—our thoughts, support, and deepest sympathies are with you. May we come together as neighbors to offer comfort and strength in the days ahead.”
