One dead, one seriously hurt in one-way crash

One person died and one person was seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on the Thruway in Amsterdam.
It happened on Feb. 19 just before 8:45 p.m. in the westbound lane of I-90 between Exit 27 and Exit 28. State Police said Veronica Armbruster, 59, of Selkirk, was driving the east in the westbound crash. Armbruster crashed into Cole M. Sevigny, 26, of New Hampshire.
Both drivers needed to be removed from their vehicles. Sevigny and Armbruster were taken to local hospitals. Sevigny was later pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital, according to police. Armbruster is in critical condition at Albany Medical Center.
All westbound lanes between Exit 27 and Exit 28 were closed for around six hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
