One year since UAlbany student was injured by man on a speeding, illegal dirt bike
Saturday marks one year since a UAlbany student was hit by a man on a speeding, illegal dirt bike and left seriously injured in the middle of the road.
It was not until about a month later that police found and arrested the suspect, 25-year-old Austin Breyette from Watervliet.
The victim in this case, Alexa Kropf, had broken bones, was in a medically induced coma, and had to undergo several brain surgeries after the crash.
Breyette is charged with assault, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it and tampering with physical evidence.
He allegedly hid the dirt bike to conceal the crime.
He posted bail in September. He was last in court in October for a hearing.
Meanwhile, Alexa is still recovering from the crash.
Her GoFundMe says each day brings new challenges, but also new victories.
