Colonie restaurant destroyed in explosion seeking temporary space while they rebuild

Restaurant looking for space while they rebuild

We have an update on the explosion that shook Loudonville in the middle of the night.

The owner of the Pad Thai Noodle Restaurant that exploded last week is looking for a new, temporary space.

The explosion leveled the Colonie building in the early morning hours of April 4. Fire officials believe a natural gas leak may have been the cause.

Pad Thai Noodle Restaurant received an outpouring of support on social media with people asking how they can help. Owner Sarinya Singthon was moved to tears talking about how much that means in the middle of this disaster.

Singthon and her family opened the restaurant in 2016 and has been building it since then.

Her customers have helped set up a GoFundMe to help the family find a new space to open up temporarily, while they wait, hopefully, for news about what insurance will cover. The restaurant was an important source of income for their family here and in Thailand.

Fire investigation officials with the Town of Colonie said it would be weeks before they could determine a cause.

Hear the owner talk about how thankful she is for all the support, by watching the video of Stella Porter’s story.
