Encon officers got a slithering surprise.
They said Tuesday that someone called on August 28 to complain about a large snake someone had as a pet in the town of New Hartford in Oneida County.
Officers determined it was a 13-foot-long 80-pound Burmese python, which is illegal to own without a permit.
The snake was sent to a Rome zoo.
The owner was ticketed for not having proper permits.
