Parents: Pownal student who brought gun sent videos of weapon to female students

The Pownal Elementary School student who brought a gun and ammunition to school on Wednesday had sent pictures and video of the weapon to female classmates, parents tell NewsChannel 13.
A student brought an unloaded 9mm gun and 67 rounds of ammunition to the school in Bennington County on Wednesday. Students alerted school staff that he had been posting about it on social media and they contacted police.
Some parents kept their children home from school on Thursday in order to give them a day to rest after what happened.
One parent told NewsChannel 13 that there were only three children on the bus when it stopped for pickup Thursday morning.
It is a small school of about 221 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. A lot of students have class with or are friends with the suspect who brought the gun. Parent Natasha Hoag said her daughter was really upset about the situation.
“When I asked her how she felt about it, she said she was sad and mad. She knew the kid, so it kind of hit her a little harder. She said she had been friends with them,” she said.
Parents also tell NewsChannel 13’s Tessa Bentulan that the student who brought the gun was posting about it on Snapchat and sending pictures and video of it to female students.
