PETA offering reward for info that leads to the arrest of the person who abandoned a dog in Columbia County.
PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abandoning a terminally ill dog on Route 23 last week.
The Cane Corso, later named Barney, was spotted on the side of the road by a passerby. The person initially believed that the dog had been struck by a car.
The dog was taken to a veterinarian who said the dog was suffering from advanced bone cancer.
Investigators believe the dog was abandoned by someone who knew about his condition but failed to seek medical attention.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 518-828-0601.
