A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty to manslaughter – as the jury was deliberating his fate.

Laquan Johnson was sentenced on Friday to 12 to 15 years in prison.

Johnson, 29, was on trial for shooting and killing Stephan Curley, 26, and injuring Dominique Satrape, who is now 28. It happened just before 4:30 p.m. on April 4, 2022 in the area of King Street.

Johnson’s attorneys had claimed that he was acting in self-defense. However, prosecutors disagreed, saying there was no evidence Curley had a gun.
