Residents in Pittsfield will see their energy bills increase.

The city has signed a new contract with its current energy supplier that raises rates.  

Pittsfield residents and businesses can expect to pay about 44% more for their electricity in the new year.

Pittsfield launched its electric program in2 018 in an effort to develop reliable and renewable energy.

Mayor Linda Tyler said the new rate will be locked in place for the full term of the contract.
