Police: 14-year-old arrested for threatening another student in Schenectady School District

Schenectady Police tell us they made an arrest on Saturday involving a 14-year-old threatening another 14-year-old within Schenectady School District via Snapchat.
Police say around 11:30 p.m., their department was notified by the school district of a student at Washington Irving School being threatened by another student via the social media platform.
Officers made contact with the 14-year-old victim and his family. It was found that the 14-year-old suspect in this case had threatened to bring a gun to school and kill him, said police.
This threat was following a dispute that had occurred earlier in the week, police added.
Authorities say they located the suspect and his family, who were interviewed by Youth Aid Bureau detectives. No weapon was found.
The 14-year-old suspect was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment.
Officials say due to the suspect’s age, no further information identifying them will be released.
Schenectady Police say they have continued to work with the school district administrators since being notified of the incident Saturday night.
