Police: 24-year-old Albany man arrested in connection with domestic burglary, assault, menacing incident

Albany Police say they arrested 24-year-old Billy Rodriguez of Albany and charged him in connection with a domestic-related incident that happened on Third Street on Friday night.
Officers say they responded to a residence around 6:35 p.m. on the 300 block of Third Street for a person with a weapon call.
They learned upon arrival that Rodriguez had unlawfully entered the victim’s home.
Police say Rodriguez threatened the victim with a handgun inside the residence and struck her in the head, causing injury. He then fled the scene on foot.
The victim was treated on scene and taken to St. Peter’s Hospital for further treatment.
An on-duty Albany PD officer saw Rodriguez fleeing on foot in the area of Third Street and North Lake Avenue shortly after the call was dispatched, and attempted to stop him, said police.
Authorities say Rodriguez ran from the officer, but he was quickly apprehended.
Additionally, police say he was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of fentanyl.
Police say Rodriguez was charged with the following:
- First-degree burglary
- First-degree criminal use of a firearm
- Second-degree burglary
- Second-degree menacing
- Second-degree assault
- Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Albany Police add that Rodriguez has also been charged with the following from an entirely separate domestic-related incident that happened on November 11:
- First-degree burglary
- Third-degree criminal mischief
- Aggravated criminal contempt
He was arraigned Saturday morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
