Brittany Hawkins, 34, is accused of driving up onto the sidewalk near the intersection of Lark Drive and Manning Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and striking the man.
Police said Hawkins was driving at an “unsafe speed” and the result of the crash sent the victim airborne, according to court documents.
The victim, identified as 28-year-old Daquan Phillips, had serious head injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center in critical condition. He has since died from his injuries.
The car then crashed into an apartment at the Upper Sky Line Apartments.
Hawkins had apparently been arguing with the victim before the assault, police said.
Hawkins had been charged with attempted murder. She is in Albany County Jail.
