Police: Albany man stole Uber driver’s vehicle
An 24-year-old Albany man was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing an Uber driver’s vehicle.
Albany Police officers responded to the area of Carlisle Court and Fordham Court around 2 a.m. for a report of a robbery. The victim told police that he was dropping off a passenger, when the man came over to the driver’s side door and forcibly removed him from the vehicle, police said.
Officers found the suspect, Kevin White, in the area of Partridge Street and Yates Street. White did not stop and drove away police said. White then drove into a rear lot at 37 Elk Street and fled on foot. He was caught after a brief chase and arrested.
White was charged with robbery, unlawful fleeing a police office, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and sent to Albany County Jail.
