Police: Arrest made in fatal Schenectady stabbing
Schenectady Police tell us they have made an arrest in a stabbing incident that happened Friday night.
Police were dispatched to 818 Lincoln Avenue around 7:57 p.m.
Officials say upon arrival, they located a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Amanda Jaikaran from Schenectady.
The victim was treated on scene and taken to Ellis Hospital where she passed away from her injuries, said Schenectady PD.
Authorities say they arrested 52-year-old Rance White of Schenectady and charged him with the following:
- Second-degree murder
- Second-degree assault
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Police add that the victim and the suspect are known to one another.
White was arraigned in Schenectady City Court Saturday morning and taken to Schenectady County Jail.
Schenectady Police say this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
