Police: Bennington County man threatened family member with weapon

A Bennington County man is accused of threatening a family member with a weapon during a domestic incident.

Matthew Wright, 34, allegedly placed the victim “in fear of seriously bodily injury or death” Vermont State Police said. The incident happened on March 2 at a residence on Route 346 in the town of Pownal. However, it was not reported until Tuesday, according to police.

Police are not disclosing the type of weapon used.

Wright was charged with first-degree aggravated domestic assault and held without bail. He is set to appear in Bennington County Superior Court on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
