Police: Group attacks pair with baseball bats outside store, steals new sneakers
One person was arrested after a group hit people with baseball bats outside a sporting goods store to steal their new sneakers.
The incident happened just before noon Saturday at Dick’s House of Sport on Troy-Schenectady Road. Officers found two people with non-life-threatening injuries from being attacked by a group of five suspects, Colonie Police said.
The investigation determined that the victims had purchased limited-released Nike Air Jordan sneakers and were assaulted by the group with baseball bats from the store. The suspects then left with the stolen items, police said.
Police found one suspect, 19-year-old Colonie resident Kyle H. Fowlkes, at the scene and arrested him. He was charged with robbery, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Fowlkes was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and sent to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, $100,000 partially secured bond pending a preliminary hearing.
The other suspects are at large. Police are seeking tips and cell phone video from the incident.
