Police: Home health aide stole credit card, charged $16K

State Police have arrested a home health aide for allegedly racking up more than $16,000 in charges on a client’s credit card.

Troopers received a complaint from an elderly Saratoga County resident in January that their credit card had been used.

Tia L. Hayes, 38, of Fort Edward, worked for Kristina’s Heart to Heart Home Health Care in the spring and summer of 2024. Hayes allegedly stole the victim’s credit card and made numerous purchases from May 2024 until January 2025.

When arrested, police said Hayes had the stolen credit card and a controlled substance.

Hayes was charged with two counts of grand larceny, identity theft, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
