Inmate dies by apparent suicide in jail
Inmate dies by apparent suicide in Washington County Jail.
An inmate at Washington County Jail died in an apparent suicide in his cell on Saturday.
Corrections officers responded to a report of an inmate who appeared to be in cardiac arrest. Nursing staff and road patrol officers began life-saving measures and then transferred care to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad and Fort Edward Fire Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
Medical efforts to resuscitate the person were unsuccessful and the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the inmate is being withheld for now to respect the privacy of the family.
