Police investigate inmate’s death at Schenectady County Jail

Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Schenectady County Jail.

Hussayn McClain, 53, was found unresponsive in his cell around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Corrections officers called 911. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office said.

McClain was taken to Ellis Hospital pending an autopsy.

McClain was arrested on Sunday on a charge of criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection, police said.
