Police review board member quits after news of firing from school resource officer job in Florida
A member of the Albany Community Police Review Board has resigned after news surfaced that he was fired from a school resource officer job in Florida following allegations he had inappropriate conservations with female students.
The Albany Common Council sent out a statement Monday that they had accepted the resignation of Milton Arroyo.
Arroyo had worked as an officer at a school in Pasco County. He was arrested in July 2017 after police said he illegally accessed a law enforcement database to gain information about a woman he was interested in. He was fired the previous month after he was accused of using the social media platform Snapchat to have sexually explicit conversations with students.
“The City of Albany has a zero tolerance policy and Council leadership is working with the administration to review and amend all policies and procedures regarding appointments to City boards and commissions to ensure that applicants for all boards and commissions have a more rigid vetting process,” the Albany Common Council said in a statement.
Arroyo is also a substitute teacher in Albany schools.
