Police raid Troy home as part of drug, weapons investigation
Investigators were searching Troy home Wednesday part of an investigation that shook up some people in a Menands office building.
The search was at 367 3rd St. in Troy.
This all began as Troy Police were conducting a drug and weapons investigation around 12:30 p.m. in South Troy. A suspect was driving a vehicle on 1st Street in Troy. Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the suspect drove away, police said.
Police used “spike strips” to deflate two of his vehicle’s tires. The vehicle continued until the suspect abandoned it near Exit 6 on 787 southbound.
He then fled into a nearby parking area and into the Riverview Center in Menands. The office building was once a large Montgomery Ward store and warehouse.
The suspect was arrested without incident, and no shots were fired, police said.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to a local hospital because police believe he may have consumed narcotics. He will be processed after his release.
More arrests are anticipated, police said.
Meantime, the Department of Health released this statement:
“Troy Police Department handled an isolated incident that ultimately ended at 150 Broadway in Menands where several Department of Health offices are located. While this incident initially prompted reports that there was an active shooter, that was not the case. Troy Police resolved the incident quickly and no shelter in place or lockdown was required of the building. All other questions should be directed to the Troy Police Department.”
