Police: Troy man had illegal gun, drugs

A Troy man is accused of having an illegal gun and drugs.

Troy Police received a tip on Saturday around 2 a.m. about a person in the area of Middleburgh Street and 5th Avenue had a handgun. Officers obtained information from the caller about where the person was last seen.

A person matching that description was seen entering a vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle and interviewed 45-year-old Frederick L. Myers. He allegedly had a clear bag containing cocaine and an illegal loaded handgun in his pants.

Myers was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and a seat belt violation. He was arraigned in Troy City Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail.
