Police: Wilton man drove drunk and crashed with two children in his truck

A Wilton man is accused of driving drunk and crashing with two children in his truck. Matthew J. Murry Jr., 40, allegedly swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Pettis Road in the town of Wilton. The truck left the road, struck a pole and overturned, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew J. Murry Jr., 40, allegedly swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Pettis Road in the town of Wilton. The truck left the road, struck a pole and overturned, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said two passengers, ages 10 and 7, were riding in the bed of the truck and were thrown from the vehicle. Both were taken to Albany Medical Center. The 10-year-old had fractures to his arm and collarbone, according to police. The 7-year-old was evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A third passenger, 22-year-old Patrick Murry, was in the front passenger seat and was not injured.

Matthew Murry Jr. was charged with first-degree vehicular assault, two counts of aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or great and traffic and vehicle violations.

He was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail.
