Police: Woman in Bennington drove nearly 100 mph with 2-year-old in tow
A New York City woman was arrested in Bennington County for allegedly driving nearly 100 mph with a 2-year-old child in the backseat.
Vermont State Police saw a vehicle speeding on Route 7 in the town of Shaftsbury and passing another vehicle, they said. The vehicle continued to accelerate to 97 mph in a 55mph zone.
The trooper tried to stop the vehicle. The driver, Maria G. Soros, 46, accelerated from 80 mph to 90 mph, police said.
She was finally pulled over.
Soros was charged with negligent operation. She was also issued a speeding violation with a penalty of $627 and two points on her license.
