Police: Youth, 16, stabbed two Albany students

A 16-year-old has been arrested for allegedly stabbing two students outside an Albany school on Monday.

Albany Police officers responded to the Abrookin Career and Technical Center on Kent Street just before noon for a report of an assault.

A 15-year-old male student had a stab wound in his calf and a 16-year-old was stabbed in the bicep, police said. Both were treated on scene and taken to Albany Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

City School District of Albany spokesman Ron Lesko said the students were getting out of a vehicle near the entrance, when another vehicle pulled up and a person got out.

Police said the suspect approached the victims, who he knew. He started a fight and stabbed both of them.

The suspect, whose name is not being released because of his age, left in a vehicle but was found by officers in the area of Green Street and Westerlo Street and arrested.

He has been charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Albany Family Court and released under supervision of Albany County Probation.
