The Port of Albany has decided to pass on federal funding for its offshore wind manufacturing project. This project has been in the works since 2019.
Tonight the Port tells us it withdrew an application for grant funding so it can move forward more quickly with the wind project.
The funding would have come through the United States Maritime Administration. This project will create the nation’s first offshore wind tower manufacturing site.
The plan is to bring hundreds of jobs to the area and assist in the economic growth of the capital region.
