Powerball jackpots are turning out to be a big win for New York schools.

The first Powerball jackpot of the New Year, won in Michigan, brought $45 million to New York public schools and New York Lottery retailers.

The Powerball jackpot rolled 35 times before the winning ticket was drawn on New Year’s Day.

Powerball ticket sales in New York state totaled more than $109 million during the run.

New York Lottery profits from sales are dedicated to New York’s K-12 public schools.
