Protestors rally against proposed Tesla dealership in Colonie

Protestors gathered in Colonie on Tuesday over a proposal to bring a Tesla dealership to the Capital Region.

The project would build a 30,000-square-foot facility at the site of the old Maywood School at 179 Central Ave. The Colonie Planning Board was not taking any action on the project, but it received an update.

Dozens of people gathered chanting “No Tesla” and “protesting owner Elon Musk gathered at both the Public Operations Center, where the meeting was being held, and in front of Colonie Town Hall.

State Sen. Pat Fahy, D – Albany, spoke at the rally and said she opposes these plans because she believes Tesla is no longer a viable company.

“It includes not only their economic performance, again dropping like a rocket, their ongoing reputational risks, and the extent to which Elon Musk is engaged in the Department of Government Efficiency, or otherwise known as DOGE, aimed at dismantling, dismantling our federal government,” she said.
