Public forum scheduled as fight to keep Troy birth center open continues

The Save Burdett Birth Center coalition will be holding a public forum on Wednesday.
The forum comes as the plans to close the only labor and delivery unit in Rensselaer County.
The fight to keep it open has been ongoing since July, when St. Peter’s Health Partners announced they’ll be closing it due to “pressures from COVID-19” – which they say had a major impact on staffing and finances.
Burdett patients, health care workers and community leaders will all be speaking during Wednesday’s event.
The public forum will be held at Chapel and Cultural Center located at Burdett Avenue in Troy. It will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
