Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin has applied to become Hudson Valley Community College’s next president.

The college has been without a president since Roger Ramsammy was fired in June after a 13Investigates report.

McLaughlin got his application in before the Jan. 6 deadline.

More than 70 others have applied for the position.

McLaughlin is also running for Elise Stefanik’s congressional seat.
