A former Rensselaer County Republican elections commissioner who admitted to voter fraud has a new job at city hall.
Mayor Michael Stammel appointed Jason Schofield to a provisional clerk position, the Times Union reported.
Stammel defended the appointment, mentioning Schofield’s previous work experience.
The pay for the position is $40,000.
Schofield pled guilty to fraud charges in January 2023. He will be sentenced later this fall.
