Saint Rose students pack up as college shut down begins

College of Saint Rose students spent much of Thursday saying their final goodbyes to friends, classmates and to a campus that for now will fade into either temporary idleness or perhaps final oblivion.

College of Saint Rose students spent much of Thursday saying their final goodbyes to friends, classmates and to a campus that for now will fade into either temporary idleness or perhaps final oblivion.

The school is shutting down after 103 years. Thursday was the last day for non-seniors to vacate their dorm rooms.

The entire Saint Rose community past and present found out over the past few months that “always and forever” does not exist on this campus.

Graduating seniors will be able cross the stage this coming weekend to collect their diplomas, but underclassmen, who were expecting to spend four years at this school, learned an important lesson that life does not always go as planned. Many were forced to find a new college and transfer their credits.

It’s been a period of uncertainty for hundreds of young people trying to navigate their lives.

Hear from some of the students and what they’re thinking on this bittersweet day by watching the video of Dan Levy’s story.
