Santabarbara proposes cap on speeding ticket surcharges

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara is introducing a new bill that looks to cut down on costly surcharges tied to speeding tickets handed out in New York State.

He wants to cut them down to a maximum of 10% of the original fine.
The surcharges have gone up through the years, and that right now-  even minor infractions that lead to $45-tickets, sometimes end up costing drivers hundreds of dollars, he said.
