Santabarbara, Steck win Assembly races

Incumbents won re-election in other local Assembly races.

Democratic Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara easily won another term over Republican challenger over Joseph Mastrioianni in the 111th Assembly District.

Santabarbara had 62% of the vote compared with 38% for Mastroianni with 85% of the precincts reporting.

The race took a strange turn when a home security camera caught Mastrioianni appearing to take a campaign mailer out of a voter’s mailbox. Scotia Police is investigating.

Democrat Phil Steck, D-Albany, beat Jeff Madden in the 110th Assembly District.

Elsewhere, incumbent Democratic Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner another term over Republican opponent Jeremy Messina in the 113th Assembly District. Woerner had 55% of the vote, with 91% precincts reporting

Republican Mary Beth Walsh defeated Joe Seeman in the 112th Assembly District.
